This lovely Facebook Post from Symths today will certainly help our campaign to create awareness to help protect our precious bee's and butterflies!!!
THERE IS TWO DAYS TIL ECO UNESCO FINALS
We are ready we have everything packed in all the boxes We also wore our T-shirts for the first time today ! We will do the best we can Do good deeds and plant our seeds Following on from the letter from Caroline Dally who is the marketing executive for Tucks O' Brien who are agents for Hozelock in Ireland they asked us to visit Smyths Homevalue in Enniscorthy where we received pots, compost, bee and butterfly friendly plants, wildflower seeds and a hose which were kindly donated to us by Dermot and Betty Kavanagh of Smyths Homevalue. We also received a compost maker and information leaflets to hand out to the pupils in our school from Hozelock. Dermot and Betty were so impressed with the work we have done on our project that they asked the local Guardian newspaper to take pictures to put in next weeks paper. This will REALLY help spread the word!!
Following our visit to symths and seeing the display for "Plant a Pot to help save our bees", we decided to get in touch with www.plantapot.info through their Contact Us on their website to see if there was anything that we could do to help. We received a lovely email yesterday praising our efforts and offering to help out, this is absolutely fantastic news!!
We visited our local hardware store Smyths in Enniscorthy who are agents for www.plantapot.info what a fantastic idea. We asked Smyths for some leaflets to hand out.
We are nearly ready to go up to Dublin for the Eco Unesco finals !! We are just done our poster,we’ve planted all our seeds and there has been lots of people voting for us
Thanks to everyone who voted for us we really appreciate it Yesterday we collected our comment boxes and posters from Beechdale Garden Centre, Kilcannon Garden Centre and Glanbia. When we asked they all kindly donated some bee and butterfly friendly flowers for our school garden. The manager of Beechdale garden centre donated a bee and butterfly friendly plant to us. Eoin the manager of Kilcannon garden centre donated four bee and butterfly friendly plants.
On Saturday the 5th we went to our local beekeeper to ask her some questions we got around 15 answers !! We also had a look at the bees one of us got on the suit and helped the beekeeper find the queen bee Did you know bees can travel 3 miles just to collect pollen!!!! One of the team members handling the bees. Look at the pollen from the wildflowers on the bee’s legs. Queen bee getting clipped and marked.
